Silbereisen

The Silbereisen family comes from Göbertsham, Passau, Bayern, Germany where they can be found as farmers back into the 1600s. 

Doing a search for the frequency of the name in Germany produced the map shown here.  Of significance is the fact that the area shown in red is the Passau District of Bavaria.

Although Martin emigrated in the 1850s it is likely that there are still many "cousins" in Passau today.
